I'm sorry but I must disagree. This is a work of such perfection and beauty that it would have Wolfgang Amadeus himself in tears. I sure as hell hope they include this in any time capsule being left for future generations. Don't know about you, but I would be proud to have our civilization's accomplishments represented by this piece of sonic wonder.

I thought "We Built this City On Rock & Roll" came out in the 80's...they played it in 75?

Sorry, my bad--didn't mean "literally" that song, just that "direction", though JOTS won't necessarily agree...it was tunes like "If only you believe in miracles" and the like that, IMHO, transitioned seemlessly into what was to come by the 80s (ie, "...built that city..").

Will agree with J, though, that the lineup in 75 beat that in the 80s...

It did come out in the 80's. Balin kantner and even frieberg were all gone by then. Not that plenty of cheese didnt get released with kantner in the band. Mickey thomas ick. Ive never heard this one but i have an old tape from central park 75 that has some pretty cool stuff. Some stuff from Balins Bodacious album and Chaquico is rippin good

Yeah, I'd say it was turning by 75, and didn't really get bad til the 80s...but, I know when we saw them a few times in Winterland in 76-78 or so, they were poor imitations of the Airplane (I know others feel differently, but Pete Sears was NO Casady).

I know you don't like Sears but he's pretty cool on the keys with Hot Tuna and others

That's right--more than one person has mentioned that...you know me, though, once I write someone off, hard to get back in my listening realm, so to speak.

Couldn't you have just shown her a map?

And poor Neil Schon and Gregg Rolie. One minute they're playing for Santana, split off to form their own group with dreams of producing serious, original music and then by '77 they're backing up Senor Queso (that's "Mr. Cheese"). I guess it just goes to show that we all have a price.

MY brother had the double-live "Captured" that I really liked (but then, I was still getting in cheap at the picture show at the time). It had a bunch of pix from huge concerts which were really interesting to someone who had never been to see anyone but Elvis.

I'll bet just 1/2 the songs off "Escape" (any half, you pick,) made/make more than the Santana band has made in its career. If you're going to do something, then do it well...

It appears that Steve Perry found a an opening for a lead singer; it also appears to be Arnel Pineda's old band.
Enjoy,

I stand corrected, on the Citaaay thing. I never felt like i was in the citaay when standing on that pier. Pier 39, definitely citaay, although both have their fair share of cheese.

actually I think that was her arguement. She claimed to have saw a VH1 show. I said well maybe a couple are from LA but I know Journey was out of SF AND everybody knows SF is the city by the Bay. Period!

Perhaps she was thinking of their lesser-known track, "City of the Angels."
